The Kuma Timer is a straightforward application designed for time management. The name "KUMA" translates to "bear" in Japanese, which is reflected in the app's playful interface.

The user sets the timer by dragging the bear's face downward; releasing the finger initiates the countdown. To adjust the timer duration, users can drag the bear's nose accordingly. The interface includes interactive controls on the bear's ears—tapping the left ear toggles the timer completion sound, while tapping the right ear (iPhone only) switches the vibration alert on or off. Tapping the bear's face during operation allows interruption of the ongoing timer.

The app allows users to select from several maximum timer durations, adjustable via yellow left and right buttons for options including 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, and 6 hours. The left and right ear buttons provide control over sound notifications and vibration alerts respectively, with specific behaviors and limitations outlined in the app’s documentation.

Notable considerations include notification permissions required during first use on iOS 8 or later. Failure to enable notifications may result in missed alerts upon timer completion. Additionally, to conserve battery life during extended timing sessions, it is recommended to close the app after setting a timer.

The volume level of alarm sounds is set to a normal level during app activity but switches to a higher volume when the app is closed during timer completion. Users can adjust this setting via "Settings > Sound." The vibration feature depends on both device settings and app configuration; if vibrations are not observed, users should verify their main unit’s vibration settings under "Settings > Sound > Vibrations." The right ear button’s vibration setting applies only during app startup, so users should consider whether vibrations are needed when the app is closed or during sleep.

Lastly, please be aware that enabling "Do Not Disturb" mode will suppress alert sounds, potentially preventing notifications from being heard when timers complete. Users should account for this setting to ensure timely alerts.
